Written by NDRNewsBot Thursday, 08 March 2012 05:19

Big Apple Soccer is reporting that Celtic will be returning to the United States this summer, with a trip to New Yankee Stadium in New York City to take on Chelsea of the EPL.  No date for the match has been set, though officials are aiming for a late July fixture date.  Big Apple Soccer says that the game will be officially announced later this month.  If the match goes on as anticipated, it would not be the first time the the Bhoys played in New York City.  Celtic took on the New York Yankees soccer team of the American Soccer League and defeated them 4-1 in 1938 at Old Yankee Stadium.

SPL launch probe against Rangers dating back to 1998

Written by NDRadmin Monday, 05 March 2012 15:55

The ramifications of the following could be huge. A statement on the Scottish Premier League Website is as follows:

The SPL Board has instructed an investigation into the alleged non-disclosure to the SPL of payments made by or on behalf of Rangers FC to players since 1 July 1998.

Notes
SPL rules F1, G1.1 and G1.5 give the SPL Board wide powers of investigation into potential breaches of the SPL rules.

SPL rules D9.3 and D1.13 impose a prohibition on players receiving payments for playing football or participating in an activity connected with football except where such payments are made in accordance with a form of contract approved by the SPL and require that all such contracts are submitted to the SPL within 14 days of being entered into.
